画像和雕塑里的拿破仑形象大多把一只手插到衣服里，好像在摸肚子。其实这是一种礼仪姿势，这种姿势的历史能够追溯到公元前3世纪的古希腊，那时候有人提出：限制一只手的移动，是在公共场合讲话的恰当方式。直到18世纪《英国礼仪指南》中记载：藏着一只手有男子气概，是一种有节制的谦逊。

In most Napoleon portraits and sculptures, Napoleon always kept his hand put inside of his jacket, as if touching his abdomen. In fact, this is a type of ceremonial gesture, which can be dated back to ancient Greece in the 3rd century BC. It was proposed that one should restrict the movement of one hand because it was the proper manner when speaking in public. Until the 18th century, it was recorded in British Etiquette Guide that a man with his hand hidden was masculine, temperate, and modest.
